What is a Sub-Inspector (SI)

  • A Sub-Inspector is a supervisory rank in the state police. They typically lead a police chowki or post, manage constables, investigate FIRs, maintain law & order, traffic duties, etc.

Exam / Selection Process

While formats vary, these are common stages in most state SI recruitments:

  1. Notification / Application: The state police or state public service commission (or dedicated police recruitment board) releases a notification giving vacancy details, how to apply, eligibility, fees etc.

  2. Written / Objective Test:

Salary / Job Profile
